CS 395 Summer 2005 Project 1 Group 1 Readme Members: Che Yusoff, Asrif Edwards, Tennile Teng, Xian Yi The scene is of three characters from South Park - Cartman, Stan and Giant Douche. In the final combination scene Stan's shoes had to be deleted because it wouldn't move with the rest of his body despite being grouped together, and center pivot did not in fact center the pivot. The missing shoes can still be found in Stan's individual .mb file. Objects: Cartman - Asrif My Cartman was made using only NURBS polygons. Initially, it looked very much like R2-D2 (http://pubweb.northwestern.edu/~yac501/r2d2-cartman.jpg). But as I progressed, I learned how to increase the number of points to be controled and with the 'Control Vertex' function, I managed to make Cartman flabbier. There are indeed many similar functions in Maya and I need to learn them more so that I could add more 'noise' to my models. Stan - Tennile I modeled Stan mainly with polygons. I began with a sphere for his head (extruding faces to create the brim of his hat). I decided to create half of the model and then mirror the other side. I used this mainly on the body (which was the hardest part of the model for me). I struggled with a solution for Stan's smile...but I think that the modified curve turn out ok. The shoes were a lofted surface that would not remain stay attached to the rest of the body even though they were parented and grouped with the rest of the objects. Overall, I think it turned out ok. Giant Douche - Teng As I was learning how to use the program as I made this model, the parts I made later are better than the parts I made earlier. Out of the whole model I like the left arm best. As you can probably guess that was the part I made last.
