Watson and Wilensky receive NSF ITR award

Benjamin Watson and Uri Wilensky, in collaboration with Martin Felsen of IIT Architecture, received an NSF ITR award for $1.6 million to automate the modelling of virtual cityscapes. The results will help meet he "critical need" for simulated urban content in the entertainment and defense industries, as identified by the National Research Council. The methods used to generate these results will also be of great interest to architects and urban planners. Electronic Arts/Maxis has contributed its SimCity source code to this effort.
