The IWQoS 2007 will be held at Hilton Garden Inn, Evanston, Illinois. Evanston is a city on Lake Michigan, approximately 12 miles north of Downtown Chicago.

·         Travel Information:

The main airport serving Evanston is O'Hare International Airport. Evanston is also served by Midway Airport. However Midway is much further from Evanston compared to O'Hare Airport. The easiest way to get from O'Hare or Midway to Evanston is via a taxi or airport shuttle.

Transportation to the Hilton Garden Inn from O'Hare Airport

    • By Car:

If you rent a car, it takes approximately 35 minutes to drive from O'Hare to Evanston.

    • Airport Shuttle:

Continental Airport Express Continental Airport Express offers daily shuttle service from
O'Hare International Airport between downtown Chicago and north suburban locations
from 6:00am to 11:30 pm. Departures are about every 5 to 10 minutes.

The fare to Evanston is approximately $20 for a standard passenger.

You can reserve a seat in advance by calling (312) 454-7799 or you can make your reservation at
the Continental Air Transport ticket counter after you have collected your baggage.

    • Subway (the "L"):

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA/elevated/"L") train provides rapid transit service from O’Hare to downtown and from downtown to Evanston.

      1. Take the CTA Blue Line train from the O’Hare station to Washington Street in Chicago’’s Loop.
      2. Get off at Washington Street and walk through the pedestrian tunnel to the Washington Street stop on the Red Line. Take the Red Line north to Howard Street.
      3. Howard Street is as far as the Red Line goes in the direction of Evanston, so you will need to get off the Red Line train and transfer to a Purple Line train from the same platform.
      4. Take the Purple Line north to the Davis Street stop in Evanston.
      5. The Hotel is one block North of the Davis Street El Station (Purple Line.)

Warning: El fare is only $2, but this trip takes about 1 hour, 30 minutes.

    • Cab:

Several companies offer a flat rate of approximately $30 from O'Hare to Evanston
(plus $1 each additional person). Advance reservations are not available, but
upon arriving at O'Hare, call the taxi company and they will assign a cab
number. The cab will meet passengers outside of the baggage claim on the outer
lanes, just beyond the median. Taxis with this system are:

      1. American Taxi: 847-673-1000
      2. North Shore Cab: 800-244-9200
      3. 303 Cab: 847-256-0303


Metered Taxis are also available. A metered Taxi ride typically costs between
$40-$60.

 

Transportation to the Hilton Garden Inn from Midway Airport

    • By Car:

    • Airport Shuttle:

To take the Airport Shuttle from Midway, you MUST make reservations one day in advance by calling 312-454-7799.
Check in with the Continental Air Transport ticket agent located near the baggage claim area.
Continental Airport Express offers daily shuttle service between Midway and north suburban locations from 6:00 am to 11:30 pm.
Departures are about every 15 minutes. The fare to the Evanston Campus is about $28. The pickup location is located in front of the main terminal building.

    • Subway (the "L"):

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA/elevated/"L") train provides transit service to downtown. There is an "L" stop at the airport.

      1. Take the CTA Orange Line to the State/Lake stop in Chicago's Loop. You will be on the elevated level above State Street and Lake Street at that location.
      2. Walk down the stairs to State Street.
      3. Walk about a half-block south and take the stairs down from State Street to the subway station. Take the Red Line north to Howard Street.
      4. Howard Street is as far as the Red Line goes in the direction of Evanston, so you will need to get off the Red Line train and transfer to a Purple Line train.
        Take the Purple Line north to the Davis Street stop in Evanston.
      5. The Hotel is one block North of the Davis Street El Station (Purple Line.)

American Taxi offers flat rate from Midway to Evanston for approximately $43
(plus $2 for each additional passenger). The dispatch number for American taxi

303 Taxi offers similar service at $44 from Midway. Their dispatch number is
(847) 256-0303.
